South African feminist researcher and activist Marlise Richter (Health Justice Initiative) and Indian legal adviser and senior researcher K.M. Gopakumar (Third World Network), reveal the flaws in standard big pharma talking points against the TRIPS waiver.

In the latest episode of the FPV podcast, they recover the South African experience with compulsory licencing that was critical for the production of generic/biosimilar ARVs against HIV/AIDS in the 2000s. ✊🏿🌍

Pointing out how the global order alone is not able to promote equity in access to medicines due to its uneven structure, they consider how current measures of voluntary technology licensing and vaccine donations are in fact stalling tactics deployed to prevent decisive action towards a fully vaccinated world.
