GTPI intervention at the USITC Public Hearing

GTPI coordinator’s, Susana von der Ploeg, statement during the US ITC public hearing on the extension of the TRIPS decision to D&Ts. The #Fem4PeoplesVaccine and its partners @deolhonaspatentes and @abiaids unpacked Brazil’s experience with HIV/AIDS and the production of generic ARVs to mirror the needs of the developing world to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic.

We joined several civil society organisations worldwide in a push to influence the US 🇺🇸 these past few weeks to recognize the need for affordable and universal access to COVID-19 tests and medicines; this is only possible by waiving intellectual property. For this, the country only needs to stick to its word and adopt the TRIPS decision at the WTO.
